Day 240 — Graduation

An illness three months ago put my exercise regime on hold for one month and it has taken until today when I can finally graduate to the 30lb dumbbells from the lightweight 20lb pair.

Day 235 — What Remains

Though I am not religious, I am also not immune to the power of icons wherever they may appear. This apparition came about when I removed a scrubbing brush from the bathroom wall. You can see the brush on Days 46 and 59.

Day 224 — Sunflower in Profile

Friends dropped by for a drink and brought a beautiful bunch of sunflowers. I'd never considered snapping them from the side before, but I rather like the result. It was overcast for most of the day so the light was soft coming in from the window.

Day 221 — The Door is Ajar

I was trying to capture the nautilus-like curve of the staircase and needed to open the door for more light which led to a more interesting composition.

Day 220 — Still Life iMac

Even though I work on a current model iMac, this gem is just too iconic to relinquish, and it still works well too. Here it is on an isolated little work station in a nook by the dining table; an aerial shot from the bedroom. The binoculars are ever present essentials for apartment living.

Day 218 — Stair Zoom

The camera is on the tripod for this long 5 second zoom exposure. Lots of light play all over the place.

Day 217 — Bandage

I went for a bike ride yesterday with my partner. He  took a tumble from his bike. Today, when I awoke, I found that the elastic bandage had been pulled out and each time I passed it I admired its gentle undulating  curves.

Day 216— Table and Floor

Large bold swathes of contrasting shades of gray form this abstract composition.

Day 215 — Flattened Chair

It took a bit of strategic positioning to create this shot. The ability of shadows to unwrap and flatten an object is what drives me to pursue them in my photography.

Day 213 — Aorta Vase

This unusual vase by Jonathan Adler becomes even more curious when shot from above. Although shot in full sunlight, I have drastically reduced the exposure to create this rich mood of dark tones.
